Goals Galore Soccer School is for players ranging from recreation level to travel level interested in competition, development, and fun. It is an individual skills based program that incorporates those basic techniques into a team/game setting.
Each morning campers will receive instruction on the essential skills of passing/receiving, dribbling, turning, & shooting. These skills are then developed even further in small sided games and other activities. In addition, a portion of the skill development each day will focus on teaching campers various 1 v 1 moves to beat your opponent which Coach Griffin believes should be an essential piece of every players development.
Each day, the latter portion of the morning will be set aside for "League Games" which will provide an opportunity for the campers to use the skills they have learned in training and test these skills in a “real game” environment.
Campers are divided by age but in some cases, such as exceptional skill level or physical ability, the coaching staff reserves the right to make an exception only in the best interest of the child for individual development.
Shawn Griffin, current Head Coach at Hobart College, will be directly involved in coaching at the camp on a daily basis. Many of the staff members are former and current players, or former assistant coaches of the Hobart program who aim to provide a passionate soccer learning experience for each and every camper. A number of our coaches/current staff members are chosen on the basis of their ability to teach, demonstrate, and positively motivate young soccer players. We also will use at times local high school coaches who have demonstrated great knowledge for the game and success in their career. Our staff must be committed to high moral and ethical standards and most importantly, create an environment in which all campers will enjoy a positive week of soccer training through Goals Galore Soccer School. In addition, current Canandaigua Academy players will also be on staff to assist the head coaches with training.
